It works just fine wirelessly, after you install the Epson Scanning Software (contained in the epson14612.dmg download file from teh Epson web site.) Yes, the Epson web site is terribly confusing, as always, imho. (ABBYY Tech Support guy in above message is wrong. ABBYY FineReader PDF latest version: Digitize and edit PDFs with ease. By the way, you do need to use the Epson Software Updater to update ABBYY to version 8.0.1 to use it under Mountain Lion. ABBYY FineReader PDF, free and safe download. ABBYY support was pretty useless, as I suspect they focus on paying customers. Haven't a clue why you would use this software. You are limited to rtf, xls, and htm formats (pdf is not supported). After some very confusing messages, closing the scan program, it finally displays the scanned page. The ABBYY software starts the Epson Scan program, which you then have to mess with. (Works over wifi.) However, I have found it to be very slow and useless. FineReader 8.0 Corporate Edition - For small-to-mid-sized businesses working on a local area network (LAN), ABBYY FineReader 8.0 Corporate Edition is an ideal groupware solution for OCR and PDF conversion. Then this mess will work, and you do not need to hook the printer up to the iMac. Download and install the scanner software from Epson. You have probably already done this or moved on, but. Why do I care if I already have Vuescan? Looks like FineReader does a better job at OCR than Vuescan. I suspect, but have not confirmed, that I may have to connect the Epson 837 to my Mac with a USB cable to scan/OCR directly. Would like to avoid that multi-step process and scan/OCR directly from the application. FineReady can then open up that saved file and do an OCR. I can scan a document via VueScan or Preview and save as a PDF. The scanner is connected wirelessly, not by USB cable. However, it does not recognize my scanner. ABBYY sent me an FTP link to download their software version that will work with Mountain Lion (the application on the CD does not work with 10.8), and the application opens and will run OCR with an already scanned file. I am trying to get my new Epson Artisan 837 to work with ABBYY's FineReader Sprint 8.0 OCR software that comes free with the printer.
